Painavaa puhetta ilmastosta todellisilta asiantuntijoilta

Alla kaksi alan huipputiedemiestä perustelee,miksi antropogeeninen (ihmisen aiheuttama) ilmastonmuutos on pötypuhetta. Prof. Fred Singer on alan todellinen "Grand Old Man", Virginian yliopiston ilmastotieteen emeritusprofessori,joka oli myös Yhdysvaltain sääsatelliiittiohjelman ensimmäinen johtaja 1964-66. Toinen on edelleen virassa oleva MIT:n (Massachuset Institute of Technology - maailman arvostetuin teknillinen yliopisto) ilmastotieteen professori Richard Lindzen.

QS tries to dispose of what he calls “Enduring climate myths [by skeptics]” – which all happen to be facts:

* Climate models cannot provide useful information about the real world

* Global warming stopped ten years ago

* Temperatures were higher in pre-industrial times

* Temperature records taken in the lower atmosphere indicate that the globe is not warming

* A few degrees of warming are not a big deal

* Measured increases in temperature reflect the growth of cities around weather stations rather than global warming

But the real holes in climate science are these facts, never mentioned by QS or by the IPCC:

* The absence of ‘fingerprint’ data that would indicate a substantial warming from CO2

* The absence of data for positive feedbacks that might amplify the effects of greenhouse gases like CO2

* The empirical evidence that shows the control of climate fluctuations on a decadal scale by solar activity by way of cosmic rays"

"The IPCC claim that most of the recent warming (since the 1950s) is due to man assumed that current models adequately accounted for natural internal variability. The failure of these models to anticipate the fact that there has been no statistically significant warming for the past 14 years or so contradicts this assumption. The real-world evidence for an ocean acidification crisis, however, is even less persuasive than the real-world evidence for a global warming crisis.

"The world’s oceans are not acidic and are in no danger of becoming so. Acidity and alkalinity are measured by pH balance, on a scale of 1 to 14. Water with a pH of 7 is neutral. A pH below 7 is acidic, and above 7 is alkaline. The pH of the world’s oceans is slightly higher than 8.1—safely alkaline.

Regardless of human carbon dioxide emissions, the world’s oceans are in no danger of becoming acidic any time in the foreseeable future. A 2005 study published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature reports ocean pH was between 8.1 and 8.2 at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution—before humans began emitting significant amounts of carbon dioxide—and remains between 8.1 and 8.2 today. The past 250 years of carbon dioxide emissions have had no significant effect on ocean pH, and there is little reason to believe that will suddenly, catastrophically change.

On the contrary, peer-reviewed scientific studies confirm higher carbon dioxide content will benefit rather than harm marine life"

Eli ei ole todistetta siitä, että merenpinta olisi noussut mitenkään poikkeavasti.

Alarmisteilla täyskäsi valtamedian tiedesivuilla

Tekniikan Maailman numerossa 6-10 tiedesivujensa toimittaja Erkki Kauhanen kirjoittaa mm., että tiede osoitti itsekorjaavuutensa East Anglian CRU:n hakkeroitujen viestien tapauksessa. Näinhän ei ollut vaan vielä petoksen paljastumisen jälkeenkin yritettiin sitä salata ja vähätellä ja demonisoida ilmastokriitikkoja.

Kauhanen kirjoittaa edelleen, että "mitä sitten, jos ei ilmastonmuutosta olekaan,hyvä asia kuitenkin". Luulisi valtiotieteen tohtorin ymmärtävän,että maailman resurssit ovat rajalliset,jos miljardeja upotetaan hypoteettiseen ja todistamattomaan "ilmastonmuutokseen", se on pois jostain muusta,esimerkiksi kehitysmaiden välttämättömästä infrastruktuurista,puhtaasta vedestä ja sairaanhoidosta yms.

Helsingin Sanomissa puolestaan tiedesivujen kolumnisti, "kansalaisaktivisti" Risto Isomäki kaivaa jostain esille tutkimuksen,jonka mukaan kassavan (?) juuret kärsivät kaksinkertaisesta hiilidioksidipitoisuudesta. Tuo vaikuttaa jo epätoivoiselta pelkolaarin pohjien kaivelulta. Isomäki myös väittää antropogeenisen eli ihmisen tuottaman hiilidioksidin meriä happamoittavan vaikutuksen tuhoavan koralleja. Korallien väheneminen on kuitenkin tutkimuksen mukaan jatkunut jo ainakin 400 vuotta.
Merien "happamoituminen" on myös suhteellista,pikemminkin pitäisi puhua alkaalisuuden
vähenemisestä pH:n kymmenyksien luokassa, merethän ovat emäksisiä, pH yli 8.

Eli summana, alarmisteilla on nyt täyskäsi valtamedian nk. tiede-sivuilla, joilta lukija olettaa saavansa puolueetonta tiedetietoa.

Ilmastokriittisiä tutkimuksia sensuroidaan tiedelehdissä?

Muunlaisesta sensuroinnistahan meillä on esimerkkejä myös, mm. maailman johtavalta jääkarhututkijalta evättiin pääsy YK:n aihetta käsittelevään konferenssiin,"koska tämän tulokset eivät sopineet kokouksen agendaan". Tutkija todisti, että yksitoista neljästätoista tunnetusta jääkarhukannasta lisääntyy ja voi hyvin. Mutta, kun kokouksen tarkoituksena oli antaa WWF:lle valtuudet julistaa jääkarhu uhanalaiseksi eläimeksi, tulokset olivat "väärin sammutettuja".
